007 First Light Nintendo Switch 2 Release Delayed to March 2027
IO Interactive has postponed the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light to March 2027, citing performance polishing. The game launched on other platforms in May and has sold over 4 million copies.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners waiting to play 007 First Light will have to wait until March 2027, IO Interactive confirmed. The studio said the extra time will be used to polish the game's performance on the console, pushing the release a full year past its original target.
The James Bond title launched for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in May after a two-month delay that the team said allowed it to further polish and refine the experience. The Switch 2 version was originally meant to arrive alongside those platforms but was pushed back to summer 2026 before the latest delay to March 2027.
«We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond's reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm,» IO Interactive wrote in a social media update. «To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.»
The delay follows a strong commercial run for 007 First Light on other platforms. The game sold more than a million copies in its first 24 hours and surpassed 4 million units by August. Amazon Games, which took over publishing rights for all James Bond titles during development, has said a sequel will happen.
«Technically, Amazon does own the rights to the game, but we're going to do what's right by the game, we're not trying to bring everything into Amazon,» said Jeff Gattis, head of Amazon Games, in an interview. «Given the success of this one, I think you probably want IOI developing it.»
The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also delayed, moving to August 2026 to allow time for performance adjustments. The pattern suggests that bringing demanding titles to Nintendo's new hardware remains a technical challenge for developers.
For now, Switch 2 players will have to wait until next year to experience Bond's reimagined origin story. IO Interactive has not announced a specific release date beyond March 2027.
