Zurich Film Festival Adds «Bunker», «Ink» and «Babies» to Gala Premieres Lineup
The Zurich Film Festival has added 12 films to its Gala Premieres section, including Florian Zeller's «Bunker» with Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, Danny Boyle's «Ink», and the European premiere of Lauren Miller Rogen's «Babies» starring Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen.
The Zurich Film Festival has strengthened its position as a key stop on the awards circuit, unveiling a fresh batch of high-profile titles for its Gala Premieres section. The festival announced Monday that 12 films have joined the lineup, including Florian Zeller's «Bunker», Danny Boyle's «Ink», and the European premiere of Lauren Miller Rogen's «Babies».
«Bunker» stars Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz in a project from Zeller, the French playwright and filmmaker known for «The Father». Danny Boyle's «Ink» features Jack O'Connell, Guy Pearce and Claire Foy in leading roles. The additions signal Zurich's growing pull as a destination where studios and distributors test awards-season momentum ahead of the fall festival circuit.
Lauren Miller Rogen's «Babies» brings a starry ensemble to the festival, with Anna Kendrick, Seth Rogen, Issa Rae, Dan Stevens, Kate Berlant, Zach Cherry, Ed Helms, Ashley Park, Sharon Stone and David Strathairn attached to the cast. The film's European premiere at Zurich gives it a prominent platform as it begins its international rollout.
Also joining the Gala Premieres section is Noah Segan's «The Only Living Pickpocket in New York» and Jordan Firstman's «Club Kid», alongside other newly announced selections. The expanded program reflects the festival's ambition to compete with established European events such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin as a launchpad for prestige cinema.
Zurich has increasingly become a fixture on the awards-season calendar, with filmmakers and talent agencies using the Swiss festival to generate buzz before the industry converges for the winter awards push.
