Violet Grohl cancels UK tour dates after losing voice ahead of Reading & Leeds
Violet Grohl has cancelled two shows on her UK headline tour after losing her voice, with rescheduled dates promised for Manchester and Glasgow. The cancellations come days before her scheduled appearances at Reading & Leeds 2026.
Violet Grohl has cancelled two dates of her current UK headline tour after losing her voice, just days before she is set to perform at Reading & Leeds 2026. The singer-songwriter, who released her debut album «Be Sweet To Me» in May, told fans on Tuesday that her show at Manchester's Band On The Wall would not go ahead, with the Glasgow gig at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut also shelved.
«Hey everyone, really fucking bummed to have to let yall know I'm canceling tonight and tomorrow's shows in Manchester and Glasgow,» Grohl wrote in a statement. «I don't have a voice right now and it pains me to make this decision, but I just can't perform.» The artist confirmed the shows would be rescheduled, adding: «Looking forward to seeing you soon xx I'll be back!!!» Details on the new dates have not yet been revealed.
The cancellations come ahead of a busy festival run for the artist. Grohl is scheduled to perform at the northern edition of Reading & Leeds on Friday, before heading to Ireland's Electric Picnic on Saturday and closing out the weekend at the southern Reading site on Sunday. She is also set to play two shows at Barfly Camden in London on September 1 and 2, followed by a return to the UK and Ireland in October for concerts in Liverpool, Bristol, London, Brighton, Belfast and Dublin. Additional dates in Paris and North America are also planned.
The news follows a period of rising visibility for the young musician, who earlier this year spoke about navigating the rock world as a young woman. «I don't like male musicians my age – I don't care. They have attitude problems,» she said. «They've been saying this about us for so fucking long – it's time that they sit down, be quiet and play their music.» She also credited advice she received about setting boundaries: «The best advice I've been given is that it's OK to say no or that you don't want to do something.»
Grohl's father, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, has previously said he was «totally uninvolved» in her music career, learning about her record deal only when she told him over dinner. «I'm like the dad that wants to be there and know everything and she's just totally doing her own thing. It's amazing,» he said. Reading & Leeds 2026 will feature headline performances from Florence + The Machine, Charli XCX, Fontaines D.C., Dave, Raye, Chase & Status and Kasabian.
