Los Angeles shoegaze band DIIV has released a new single, "Dare Me", and announced a major world tour for 2027, which will include six concerts in the UK and Ireland. The track is the last promotional single ahead of the group's fifth studio album "ZIRP!", which came out on October 30 via Fantasy Recordings.

"Dare Me" continues a run of previous singles by the band: "Trillions", "Kid" and "The Fountain". The group retains its recognizable sound with hazy guitar tones, but, according to frontman Zachary Cole Smith, the song is about hope for building a new world against the backdrop of societal collapse. The music video for the track was directed by Louis Covatch.

The tour opens on February 12, 2027 with the Laneway festival in Sydney. After that, the band will perform in Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland at Laneway festival, as well as in Tokyo, where two shows are scheduled at Kanda Square Hall. The North American leg then begins in April and May, covering more than thirty cities: from Minneapolis, Madison and Chicago to New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Austin, Denver and San Francisco, and concluding in San Diego on May 21.

The European leg starts in France in Lille, followed by concerts in Paris at L'Olympia on June 1, as well as in Rennes and Lyon. In early June the band will play the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, after which dates follow in the Netherlands at the Best Kept Secret festival, as well as in Hamburg, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Cologne and Zurich. The tour ends in the UK and Ireland: June 24 in Brighton, June 25 at Albert Hall in Manchester, June 26 at QMU in Glasgow, June 27 in Dublin, June 29 in Bristol and June 30 at Troxy in London.

Tickets for the British shows went on general sale at 10:00 local time on October 30. The tour supports the album "ZIRP!", produced by A. G. Cook, known for his work with Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek. In a four-star review for NME, Joe Goggins wrote that watching DIIV put their words into action and make the most significant sonic shift of their career at the same time as their most overtly political record is thrilling.

According to Goggins, "ZIRP!" cannot be called a nihilistic album: beneath the surface, Smith offers solutions to a "late-capitalist hell" based on community and unity. These thoughts may have been influenced by his experience rebuilding his neighborhood in Altadena after losing his home in the Los Angeles wildfires last year. The reviewer called the record ambitious, uncompromising and ultimately optimistic.
