Ubisoft Announces Just Dance: Decades Of Hits With Only 35 Tracks At Launch
Just Dance: Decades Of Hits arrives October 13 with a 35-song soundtrack spanning five decades, a new Adventure Mode, and cross-title song library access for recent Just Dance owners.
Ubisoft is taking the Just Dance franchise on a chronological tour of pop history, but the tracklist will be noticeably leaner than fans have come to expect. Just Dance: Decades Of Hits, announced on September 10, will launch with only 35 songs when it arrives on October 13 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch 2 version follows on November 10.
The game is positioned as a celebration of the past 50 years of music, drawing on hits from the 1970s through the 2020s. According to a press release, the title brings «hits from every era to the dance floor, featuring new songs, visuals, and an all-new Adventure Mode» designed to immerse players in the spirit of each decade.
The confirmed soundtrack so far leans heavily on recognizable, cross-generational staples. ABBA's «Mamma Mia», Run DMC's «It's Tricky», Billy Joel's «Uptown Girl», TLC's «No Scrubs», the Spice Girls' «Wannabe», *NSYNC's «Bye Bye Bye», Gorillaz's «Feel Good Inc.», DJ Snake and Lil Jon's «Turn Down For What», and Don Omar featuring Lucenzo's «Danza Kuduro» are all included. More recent additions come from Sabrina Carpenter with «Manchild» and Bad Bunny with «NUEVAYoL».
The 35-track figure stands out because previous Just Dance mainline entries have typically shipped with substantially larger setlists. Ubisoft has not framed the number as a limitation in its messaging, instead emphasizing curation and the game's new modes. The company's announcement blog confirmed the count alongside the first wave of song reveals.
One of the headline features is Adventure Mode, which follows Lyra, the daughter of series antagonist Dr. Gigavolt, on what Ubisoft describes as «a playful journey through six decade-themed worlds, complete with mini-activities, exclusive rewards, and dances to decade-defining songs.» The mode gives the game a narrative spine that recent entries have largely lacked.
Multiplayer and accessibility features are also being carried forward. Decades Of Hits supports six-player local co-op, and players can use their phones as controllers so larger groups can join without extra hardware. Party Mode changes the rules every round for what Ubisoft calls «chaotic fun,» while Workout Mode tracks calories burned during each dance.
For returning players, Ubisoft is offering continuity across recent releases. Anyone who owns a Just Dance title released between 2023 and 2026 will be able to access their existing song library inside Decades Of Hits without switching between games, effectively folding several years of purchases into one hub.
The announcement lands amid broader housekeeping for the franchise's music catalog. Last month, Ubisoft confirmed it was removing 56 songs from the paid subscription service Just Dance+ because of expiring licenses. In a statement, the company said its «commitment to you remains the same: to prioritise quality and curate the best possible experience,» adding that it reviewed usage metrics and worked to avoid removing community favorites.
That context matters for how the 35-song launch may be received. Just Dance has increasingly operated as a live service, with subscriptions, rotating libraries, and post-launch additions supplementing the base game. A smaller initial setlist could signal a heavier reliance on that model, or simply a tighter, era-focused package. Ubisoft has not detailed post-launch plans for Decades Of Hits.
The game's decade-spanning concept also reflects a wider pattern in music and entertainment, where anniversary framing and nostalgia packaging have become reliable draws across generations. By grouping ABBA and the Spice Girls alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Bad Bunny, Ubisoft is betting that a single dance floor can serve both longtime players and newcomers.
Just Dance: Decades Of Hits launches October 13 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with the Switch 2 edition arriving November 10.
