Robert Pattinson says he is "so happy" Steven Soderbergh is finishing The Batman Part II
Robert Pattinson praised Steven Soderbergh for taking over principal photography on The Batman Part II after Matt Reeves stepped away from production for a family matter.
Robert Pattinson has said he is "so happy" that Steven Soderbergh has stepped in to finish filming on The Batman Part II, calling the decision a generous one by a filmmaker he clearly admires. Soderbergh has taken over principal photography from Matt Reeves, who left production earlier this month due to a family matter.
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Pattinson said he was grateful that Soderbergh had come on board to help Reeves. "I am so happy he's come on to help Matt," Pattinson said. "It's incredibly generous," he added, describing the move as completely selfless. He also said that having someone as talented as Soderbergh take the reins was a great thing for the film.
The production had paused briefly while Reeves dealt with the family issue. Pattinson later confirmed in a separate interview that filming had resumed. "I think they're in production already," he told Games Radar. "And I'm starting in a couple of days." Pattinson, who plays Bruce Wayne in the sequel to Reeves's 2022 film, is returning to the role for the continuation of the story.
Soderbergh's involvement marks a notable handover in the middle of a major studio blockbuster. Reeves had directed the first film and was guiding the sequel before stepping away, and Soderbergh's arrival means the shoot will continue under a new director of photography on set while Reeves focuses on his personal situation. Pattinson's remarks suggest the cast is comfortable with the change and expects the production to move forward on schedule.
