Olivia Rodrigo closes Daisy Chain Fields with Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan
Olivia Rodrigo closed the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine with surprise duets alongside Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan, plus the live debut of her new song 'Serena Joy'.
Olivia Rodrigo closed the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, on Saturday night with a headline set that featured surprise appearances from Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan. The one-day event, which Rodrigo conceived with an all-female lineup, took place at Great Park, where the singer topped the bill and closed the Dandelion Stage.
McLachlan was the first guest to join Rodrigo, who told the crowd that without Lilith Fair — the pioneering women-led touring festival McLachlan founded in 1997 — «there would be no Daisy Chain.» The pair performed two of McLachlan's songs, «Building A Mystery» and «Angel,» dedicating them to Dolly Parton, who died earlier this week at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. Morissette later joined Rodrigo for a duet of her 1996 hit «Ironic,» before Nicks came out to round out the show with a version of Fleetwood Mac's 1975 classic «Landslide.»
Rodrigo had previously teased the possibility of performing «Landslide» with Nicks at the festival. Shortly after announcing the lineup, she was asked which song she hoped to sing during her set, to which she replied: «'Landslide', maybe? We'll see. Fingers crossed.»
The set also included the live debut of Rodrigo's new song «Serena Joy,» a politically charged track inspired by The Handmaid's Tale. The song was released on streaming platforms this week after an initial exclusive run of 500 CDs sold only at a record store near the California festival.
Alongside Rodrigo, the inaugural edition featured performances from Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, The Breeders, Garbage, Santigold, Rachel Chinouriri, Die Spitz and others. Devon Again joined the lineup after KATSEYE withdrew shortly before the festival, following Megan Skiendiel spraining her ankle during rehearsals for the group's tour.
All participating artists waived their performance fees, while the festival's net proceeds will support nonprofit organizations advocating for women and girls. Daisy Chain Fields also hosted educational resources, community art projects and installations focused on reproductive rights, maternal health, economic empowerment, domestic violence prevention and gender equality.
Rodrigo released her third album, «You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love,» in June. She will begin her extensive «Unraveled» world tour next month, with support across the run coming from Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party, Devon Again, Grace Ives and Die Spitz. The tour is scheduled to reach The O2 in London in May 2027.
