Gillian Anderson and Rebecca Hall have joined the cast of the psychological thriller The Portrait, written and directed by Sarah Colangelo. The project is based on the novel of the same name by Ilaria Bernardini and was presented at the American Film Market with the support of Rocket Science and WME. Both actresses have previously received nominations for the BAFTA and Golden Globe awards, which makes their joint work a notable event for fans of the genre.

At the center of the story is a confrontation between a mistress and a wife in a London townhouse. Anderson plays Valeria, an acclaimed writer who has maintained a secret affair for many years with Martin, a wealthy businessman. When Martin suddenly falls ill, Valeria commissions a portrait from his wife Ayla, an artist played by Hall. It is this arrangement that brings together two women connected by one man and sets off the tension at the heart of the film. The action takes place in one of London's townhouses, and in this confined space the meeting of the two heroines becomes the main source of the drama.

The film is produced by Pie Films, represented by Thalia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren. Production is based on the screenplay and direction of Sarah Colangelo, who serves as both the author of the text and the director. The project is billed as a psychological thriller rather than a picture focused mainly on external action, and according to the materials, this feature defines its character. The producing team and executive partners were presented at AFM, one of the largest markets for independent film, where projects seek buyers and international partners.

Alongside the announcement of The Portrait, news also emerged about a continuation of the British ITV series Gone. Kaylee Howes has joined the second season of the thriller, created by George Kay, the writer of the series Lupin. Howes will play Ruth Manning, a children's surgeon from Bristol. The new season will also feature the return of Eve Myles as Detective Sergeant Annie Cassidy. Howes has been nominated for the BAFTA three times, and her participation in the series continuation was one of the notable announcements of that week in the British television industry.
