Don Toliver brings out Justin Timberlake for ‘Rock Your Body’ and ‘Body’ in Miami
Don Toliver surprised fans in Miami by bringing out Justin Timberlake to perform ‘Rock Your Body’ and ‘Body’ during his ‘Nitrous’ tour stop.
Don Toliver brought out Justin Timberlake as a surprise guest during his concert at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Thursday night, performing a mashup of Timberlake’s 2003 hit ‘Rock Your Body’ and Toliver’s own ‘Body’, which samples the former track. The collaboration came near the end of Toliver’s set on his ongoing ‘Nitrous’ tour, and footage of the moment quickly spread across social media.
Timberlake’s appearance marked his first public performance since January, when he paid tribute to frequent collaborator Pharrell Williams at the Recording Academy Honours Black Music Collective event in Los Angeles. Before that, the singer had not performed since his ‘Forget Tomorrow’ world tour concluded in Istanbul in July last year. At the end of that trek, Timberlake revealed he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease, describing the condition as “relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.” He said he was shocked by the diagnosis but understood why he had been experiencing nerve pain and fatigue onstage, and he considered ending the tour early before deciding that “the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling.”
The ‘Forget Tomorrow’ tour was plagued by health setbacks, including postponed shows due to bronchitis and laryngitis, as well as cancellations caused by flu and injuries. Timberlake’s legal troubles also made headlines in 2024, when he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired, receiving a $500 fine, a $360 surcharge, and 25 hours of community service. In March, police bodycam footage from his arrest was released after he reached a settlement in a privacy lawsuit against the local police department.
Timberlake’s latest album, ‘Everything I Thought I Was’, arrived in 2024. In a three-star review, NME wrote that the record “shows he hasn’t lost his vocal chops or ability to work a groove, but it doesn’t do enough to make you block out past misdemeanours.” Toliver, meanwhile, released his fifth album ‘Octane’ in January, and his ‘Nitrous’ tour continues through the rest of the year, with UK dates scheduled for November.
