Doc Season 3 Trailer Shows Amy Larsen Embracing Joan’s Legacy as New Threats Emerge

FOX has released the first trailer for Doc Season 3, and it finds Amy Larsen trading romantic chaos for a deeper mission: honoring Joan’s legacy and becoming the best version of herself. The new season, premiering September 22, picks up after the finale left Amy determined to focus almost exclusively on living up to the standard Joan set before her death. That commitment means stepping fully into her role as co-chief resident alongside her longtime adversary, Sonya, a controversial arrangement Joan put in place before she died.
The dynamic between Amy and Sonya is set to shift this season. Instead of petty clashes, the two women will have to work together for a broader purpose, a change that could bring out the best in both of them. Their partnership will be tested by a diverse batch of new interns, each with distinct personalities that will challenge the hospital’s leadership. The setup draws comparisons to Grey’s Anatomy, with fresh faces and the pressure of molding new minds while managing their own complicated lives.
Among the new arrivals are Graham Barker, played by Barrett Carnahan, an entitled and charming nepo baby determined to prove he is more than his wealthy donor father’s connections. Raffa Virago plays Nikki De Silva, a sharp overachiever who is wound tight, while Cecilia Lee portrays Ruth Chen, an empathetic and eager intern who can get frazzled under pressure. Kolton Stewart rounds out the group as Kyle Ferguson, the youngest intern, a brilliant and humble homeschooled fish out of water who is direct and guileless.
The biggest complication comes in the form of Blair Underwood’s Ben Grant, who debuted in the Season 2 finale as a world-renowned cardiothoracic surgeon. The shocker was the revelation that he and Amy share a steamy past, one she cannot remember due to her condition. The season’s tagline, «Can Your Memories Be Trusted?» leans into that tension. Ben appears to be plotting, with ulterior motives and a potential fixation on Amy, and the trailer shows him speaking to the board, arguing that Amy in her current capacity is not a draw for him.
Amy’s healing journey is progressing well, and she is making enough strides that she may no longer need the limitations and probations that have held her back. But Ben’s presence threatens to complicate that progress.
