The Remarried Empress, a live-action adaptation of one of the most popular Naver Webtoon series, is premiering on Disney+ and, in the US, on Hulu. The lead roles are played by Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young. The first four episodes will be available on the platforms on Tuesday, November 3, one day earlier than the originally announced premiere date of November 4.

The series is based on a work that has garnered nearly 3 billion views in 10 languages since its launch in 2019. Fans of the comic already know the characters and storyline well, so the adaptation was under heightened audience attention from the start. The announcement of the early release was made at a press conference in Seoul, South Korea.

The project is among the major Korean webtoon adaptations that have increasingly moved to streaming platforms in recent years. For Disney+ and Hulu, it is part of a strategy to expand their library of Asian content aimed at an international audience. The four episodes at launch allow viewers to get acquainted with the main storyline right away, while the remaining episodes will be released as the platforms progress.

The romantic drama revolves around a remarriage and court intrigue that have long attracted readers of the webtoon. The cast, which brings together stars of Korean film and television, is also seen as one of the factors driving interest in the project outside Korea.
