Bruce Springsteen to headline Stand Up For Heroes benefit show in New York in November
Bruce Springsteen will headline the 20th anniversary Stand Up For Heroes veterans benefit at Lincoln Center in Manhattan on November 9, alongside comedians Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj and Josh Johnson, plus Alex Warren and The Resilient band.
Bruce Springsteen will headline the 20th anniversary Stand Up For Heroes benefit show in New York this November, an event that supports veterans, service members and their families. The fundraiser is scheduled for November 9 at David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan and is held in connection with the New York Comedy Festival.
The lineup also includes Alex Warren, known for the song «Ordinary,» and The Resilient, a band composed primarily of severely wounded US combat veterans. Comedy sets will be performed by Jon Stewart, Hasan Minhaj and Josh Johnson of The Daily Show. Tickets for the anniversary show are now on sale.
Stand Up For Heroes launched in 2006 and held its first major event the following year. Over two decades, the initiative has raised $117 million (£86 million) for its cause. Bob Woodruff, the ABC News correspondent who co-founded the initiative, said the original idea was to bring people together with laughter and music in honor of those who have sacrificed for the country.
«Twenty years ago, we put together Stand Up For Heroes with a simple idea: bring people together with laughter and music in honour of those who have sacrificed so much for our country,» Woodruff said. «Right there in the theatre, veterans and service members share the spotlight with unforgettable tributes by world-class performers. Those who come to the show will ensure that men and women serving today will not be left behind tomorrow.»
Springsteen has appeared at multiple Stand Up For Heroes events over the years. In 2023, he played «Addicted To Romance» live for the first time and joined John Mellencamp for «Wasted Days.» His most recent tour, the Land Of Hope And Dreams trek, wrapped up in Philadelphia in May. That tour was inspired by his objection to the Trump administration and ICE's killing of two citizens in Minnesota. Trump called on supporters to boycott the concerts, while Springsteen branded him a «President who can't handle the truth» at the first show.
In July, Springsteen made a surprise appearance during Bon Jovi's Madison Square Garden show, joining the band for «Who Says You Can't Go Home» and «The Promised Land.» Earlier this month, the Boss revealed that his wife and fellow E Street Band musician Patti Scialfa is in remission from cancer. Scialfa has been living with multiple myeloma for over eight years. She first publicly discussed her 2018 diagnosis in the 2024 documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band, explaining that the condition weakened her immune system and led to limited appearances on tour.
