Thomasin McKenzie, Finn Cole and Antony Starr have been cast in The Lie of Sherwood Forest, a new retelling of the Robin Hood legend that will be presented at the upcoming American Film Market. Sales for the project are being handled by Logical Pictures International and Protagonist Pictures, and the film is being produced by the German company augenschein.

The story centers on a young woman who deceives Robin Hood and his companions. The outlaws are sent on a rescue mission for her captured brother, but the mission soon turns into a perilous heist. As the operation unfolds, loyalties fracture and hidden motives begin to surface, forcing the outlaws to confront the costs of their choices and the challenge posed by those in power. The project's synopsis sums up the premise with a single line: one desperate lie changes the legend.

Patrick Vollrath is directing. His previous feature films include 7500 and Subversion. Production is scheduled to begin on November 9.

The film is being positioned for international buyers ahead of the market, which is one of the main industry gatherings where independent and genre projects are presented to distributors and sales agents. Details about the budget, the distribution partners for specific territories and a release date have not been announced.
