The Strokes and Phoebe Bridgers Set as Musical Guests for New SNL Episodes
Saturday Night Live has announced its next three episodes, with The Strokes performing on November 7 alongside host Druski and Phoebe Bridgers appearing on November 14 with host John Mulaney. Gracie Abrams will join the Halloween episode hosted by Inde Navarrette.
Saturday Night Live has lined up The Strokes and Phoebe Bridgers as musical guests for its next batch of episodes, the long-running sketch show announced. The Strokes will perform on November 7 alongside host Druski, while Bridgers takes the stage on November 14 when John Mulaney returns to host for the seventh time.
The show comes back from its current break on October 31 with a Halloween episode hosted by Inde Navarrette, the star of Obsession, with Gracie Abrams as the musical guest. That installment will be Abrams' second appearance on the SNL stage, following the July release of her third studio album, Daughter From Hell.
For The Strokes, the November 7 booking marks their fifth time as musical guest on SNL, after previous performances in 2002, 2006, 2011 and 2020. Their most recent visit came on Halloween 2020, when they played The Adults Are Talking and Bad Decisions from their sixth album, The New Abnormal. That episode was also hosted by Mulaney, setting up a reunion of sorts for the band and the comedian.
The New York group released their seventh studio album, Reality Awaits, in July, their first record in six years. Earlier this month they played their first UK concerts in three years at London's O2 Arena, mixing old favorites with new material. Druski, meanwhile, will make his hosting debut on November 7, becoming the first digital content creator to host the show. The comedian hosted the BET Awards earlier this year, and his episode arrives ahead of the December release of his scripted Netflix series, Collect and Praise.
Bridgers is set for her second appearance as a solo musical guest. She made her debut in February 2021, performing Kyoto and I Know The End from her 2020 album Punisher. The latter performance became a viral moment after she smashed her Danelectro guitar against a stage monitor during the song's climax, prompting a heated online debate. Bridgers later revealed that the manufacturer had given her permission to destroy the instrument, while the monitor was a fake prop made specifically for the performance. The guitar was subsequently sold at auction for $101,500, raising money for the GLAAD Media Awards.
She also returned to SNL in November 2023 as a member of Boygenius, alongside Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. The trio performed Not Strong Enough and Satanist in matching suits inspired by The Beatles, during an episode hosted by Timothée Chalamet. Bridgers released her third solo album, Lost Weekend, in August, ending a six-year wait following Punisher. The record became her first solo UK Number One album. She is currently on the North American leg of her phone-free Lost Tour, which will arrive in the UK and Europe next month, including performances in Dublin, Manchester and London.
Mulaney's return for a seventh hosting stint makes him one of the show's most frequent recent hosts. The announcements round out a trio of episodes that pairs a first-time host in Druski with a veteran band, and a seasoned host in Mulaney with a returning solo artist. SNL has not yet announced hosts or musical guests beyond the November 14 episode.
