Robert Kelker-Kelly Dies: ‘Days Of Our Lives’, ‘Another World’ Actor Was 62

Robert Kelker-Kelly, the soap opera actor best known for his three-year run as Bo Brady on NBC's «Days of Our Lives» and for his role on «Another World,» died at his home in St. Peters, Missouri. He was 62.

St. Peters police officers responded to his residence at around 8:16 p.m. for a report of an unconscious male who was not breathing. Police noted that Kelker-Kelly had reportedly complained of chest pain shortly before becoming unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kelker-Kelly joined «Days of Our Lives» in 1992, taking over the role of Bo Brady, a character that had been originated by Peter Reckell. He played the part until 1995, becoming a familiar face to daytime audiences during a period when the show was a fixture of NBC's daytime lineup. His portrayal of Bo Brady placed him at the center of one of the genre's most enduring romantic pairings, opposite Lisa Rinna's Billie Reed.

Before his time in Salem, Kelker-Kelly appeared on «Another World,» the NBC soap opera that ran from 1964 to 1999. His work in daytime television made him a recognizable figure among soap opera viewers, and his tenure on «Days of Our Lives» coincided with a wave of mainstream attention for the genre.

Kelker-Kelly was born in 1964 and grew up in the Midwest. He began his career as a model before transitioning to acting, a path that brought him to New York and Los Angeles during the peak of the daytime serial boom. In addition to his soap roles, he made guest appearances on primetime series and remained a popular figure at fan events long after his run on «Days» ended.

News of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes from former castmates and daytime television fans. Several colleagues remembered him as a dedicated actor whose presence on set was both professional and warm. The soap opera community, which has mourned a number of losses in recent years, reacted with particular sadness given Kelker-Kelly's relatively young age.

His death also comes amid a period of transition for the daytime drama format. Once a dominant force in American television, soap operas have seen their audiences shrink and their production schedules change as streaming and cable have reshaped viewing habits. For many viewers, actors like Kelker-Kelly represent a specific era of network television, when serialized storytelling drew millions of daily viewers and made household names of its stars.

Kelker-Kelly is survived by family members and a wide circle of friends in the entertainment industry. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly announced. St. Peters police said the investigation into his death is ongoing, though no foul play is suspected at this time.

For fans of «Days of Our Lives,» his Bo Brady remains part of the show's long history, a character who has been recast several times but whose 1990s iteration carried a distinct energy. His work on «Another World» similarly forms part of the legacy of a program that helped define NBC's daytime identity for more than three decades.
