Dominique Frot has a busy slate after God Save the Tuche
After playing Lady Gin To in the hit French comedy franchise, Dominique Frot is moving into Guillaume Canet’s Karma, an Éric Judor comedy and a dark fantasy film.
If you know Dominique Frot mainly as Lady Gin To from God Save the Tuche, her next few projects go in very different directions. The French actress has a busy slate in 2026 that includes a psychological thriller from Guillaume Canet, a new comedy directed by Éric Judor and a completed dark fantasy from Quarxx. She is also spending part of her time behind the scenes of a Paris festival created to spotlight young actors.
The big date is October 21. That is when Karma, Canet’s new thriller, is scheduled to open in France after screening out of competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Marion Cotillard stars as Jeanne, a woman whose attempt to rebuild her life unravels after a child disappears. Denis Ménochet, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Luis Zahera are among the other major names in the cast. Frot is credited in professional production databases and by her representation as part of the ensemble.
Karma is the easiest project to put on a calendar because its release is already set. Le Pire du milieu is more of a “watch this space” title. Éric Judor directed the comedy in the Paris region, with filming running from September 22 to October 31, 2025. Frot is listed in the cast, and Gaumont is attached as distributor. The project has used multiple working titles during development, and a reliable release date is not yet visible in the production listings checked for this update.
Then there is Les Âmes en peine, which is almost the opposite of broad comedy. Directed by Quarxx, the film takes place in a remote 19th-century village hit by a mysterious affliction known as the “Black Evil.” The premise mixes horror, fantasy and a battle over whether the crisis should be understood through faith, science or fear. The production is listed as completed. Frot appears alongside Thierry Frémont, Jean-Baptiste Maunier and Ophélia Kolb.
Her recent credits already show how wide that range can be. God Save the Tuche brought her into the fifth film in the popular Tuche comedy franchise as Lady Gin To; TF1+ currently offers the movie as a rental. La Tournée, released in June 2025, cast her as Madame Closier in a comedy about an actor forced onto a chaotic promotional road trip. Dites-lui que je l’aime, released in December, is a much more intimate Romane Bohringer film about family memory and the filmmaker’s relationship to her mother. Frot appears in it as Dominique, and the movie continued to screen at international festivals in 2026.
She also has a current public role that has nothing to do with promoting herself. In April, Frot was part of the third Festival International des Jeunes Acteurs in Paris. She is on the FIJA team and served as president of the jury for film-school short films in the Pass Culture section. The festival has already opened submissions for its 2027 edition.
One online list deserves a footnote. Frot’s own website still places Scènes de ménage, Nébuleuse and Triple je under an “in production” heading. Because that page also contains older 2025 festival dates, the safest way to read it is as a project list rather than a precise 2026 timetable. There is not enough fresh independent information to promise when those titles will be seen.
So the latest on Dominique Frot is not a single dramatic announcement. It is a steady run of work. Karma is the next confirmed release, Le Pire du milieu and Les Âmes en peine are real projects waiting for their next public steps, and FIJA shows that Frot’s place in French film culture now includes helping newer actors get noticed as well as taking roles herself.
