Borderlands 4 Soundtrack Gets Vinyl Release for One-Year Anniversary
Gearbox Entertainment and Laced Records are releasing the Borderlands 4 soundtrack on vinyl, featuring 22 remastered tracks across a 2LP set with artwork tied to the game's four major biomes.
Gearbox Entertainment has confirmed that the soundtrack for Borderlands 4 will be released on vinyl, marking the one-year anniversary of the looter shooter's launch. The announcement was made in collaboration with Laced Records, which will handle the release of a 2LP set containing 22 specially remastered tracks.
The vinyl edition is organized around the game's four major biomes on the planet Kairos, with each side of the record dedicated to one region: The Fadefields, The Terminus Range, Carcadia Burn, and the hostile Dominion City. The tracklist spans the full range of the game's musical identity, opening with Des Rocs' «This Land» and closing with «Thrum Dumpster», a collaboration featuring Bowling For Soup's Jaret Reddick and former Pantera vocalist Terry Glaze.
Composers Finishing Move Inc., Cris Velasco, Joshua Carro, and Christian Pacaud contributed to the soundtrack, which was designed to match the game's chaotic, punk-infused tone. Audio director Mark Petty said the team aimed for something more raucous than previous entries in the series. «We wanted something more raucous than we've done previously», Petty said, describing the creative direction behind the music.
Des Rocs, who contributed «This Land», explained the intensity behind the track. «Sonically, I wanted it to feel enormous but also capture real energy», the artist said. «Most bands leave that live energy on the table but you can feel my frustration in the take we used. I was pissed and tired of recording. I wanted to go home.» He added that his favorite records are born when chaos is focused into a concise laser beam of rock insanity, and that Borderlands operates on a similar wavelength. «It's rooted in madness but it's all wrapped into this incredibly immersive and cohesive experience», he said.
The vinyl release is available in two formats. A limited-edition «Max Mayhem» set, featuring red and yellow discs, is available for pre-order through Laced Records. A standard black vinyl edition is also available. The full tracklist includes «Under my Green Thumb», «Quark Rhythm», «Where The Earth Breathes», and «ButterBall» on Side A; «Madness with a View», «Sigmoid», «Transmute», «Transcendent Haven», and «Tectonic» on Side B; «Brain Scar», «Civic Disobedience», «Face Puncher», «Razor Blade», «Spider Hole», and «Arachnophobia» on Side C; and «Resurge», «Sanctum of the Shattered Mind», «The City Sleeps», «Timekeeper», «My Friend Arjay», and «Thrum Dumpster» on Side D.
The vinyl announcement arrives as Borderlands 4 approaches its first anniversary. The game launched last September and has maintained a dedicated player base drawn to its blend of looter-shooter mechanics and irreverent humor. The soundtrack's physical release extends the franchise's presence beyond the screen, offering fans a collectible tied to the game's distinct visual and sonic world.
