Beabadoobee shares new single «Memories» from upcoming album «Pylon»
Beabadoobee has released «Memories», which she calls one of the happiest songs on her fourth studio album «Pylon», out September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope.
Beabadoobee has released «Memories», a track she describes as «one of the happiest songs on the album» from her upcoming fourth studio record «Pylon». The song, built around a euphoric acoustic guitar, finds the singer-songwriter exploring a melancholic nostalgia, as she puts it, «clinging onto ideas that should make me happy but actually make me feel sad, because I wish they were just moments I lived in forever.»
In the lyrics, Beabadoobee dwells on small sensory details: «The smell of rain on the pavement/It's 3 am and I thought of you/You're the best, you're my favourite/I see you in all shades of blue.» The track was already debuted live during her recent show at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, where she also played the album's title track «Pylon» for the first time, alongside previously released singles «Sun Has Set» and «Switchblade».
«Pylon» is scheduled for release on September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope, serving as the follow-up to 2024's «This Is How Tomorrow Moves». The album features a notable roster of collaborators, including Hayley Williams on «Nothing To Prove» and Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates on «Powerlines». Additional contributions come from Pinegrove's Evan Stephens Hall, Deftones' Chino Moreno, and Title Fight's Shane Morgan. The 1975's Matty Healy and George Daniel produced the track «Write Me A Letter».
The upcoming «Powerlines» tour is set to kick off in Uncasville, Connecticut on October 1, before reaching the UK in November with shows in Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester, and London. The tour supports an album that follows the critically praised «This Is How Tomorrow Moves», which NME awarded four stars, calling it «a collection of songs that showcase the tangled feelings of this time, the young artist's third record is a poignant, powerful thing.»
Earlier this year, Beabadoobee teamed up with The Marías on the one-off single «All I Did Was Dream Of You», which arrived with a video inspired by Yorgos Lanthimos' film «Bugonia». She also covered Elliott Smith's «Say Yes» for the War Child compilation «Help(2)». With «Pylon» on the horizon, the singer continues to build momentum, blending introspective songwriting with a growing list of high-profile collaborations and a busy touring schedule across North America and the UK.
