Alden Ehrenreich to Take Fan Questions in Reddit AMA as New Film Opens
Actor Alden Ehrenreich will answer questions from movie fans in a Reddit AMA tied to the release of his new film «A Talent for Murder», which also stars Helen Mirren and Olivia Cooke.
Actor Alden Ehrenreich is set to field questions from movie fans in a live Reddit AMA, an online session timed to the theatrical release of his new film «A Talent for Murder». The announcement was posted in the r/movies community, with the thread scheduled to open around 10 a.m. ET and the actor returning at roughly 4 p.m. ET to begin answering.
The session gives fans a direct line to an actor whose career has moved between studio blockbusters and director-driven projects. Ehrenreich is known for roles in «Hail, Caesar!», «Solo: A Star Wars Story», «Fair Play», «Oppenheimer», «Cocaine Bear» and «Weapons», a filmography that spans Coen brothers comedy, a Star Wars origin story, Christopher Nolan's atomic-age drama and recent horror and thriller releases.
His latest project, «A Talent for Murder», is being released in theaters everywhere by Bleecker Street. The film stars Helen Mirren and Olivia Cooke alongside Ehrenreich and is directed by Anton Corbijn, whose previous credits include «The American» and «A Most Wanted Man».
The plot follows a mysterious young man from a New York publisher who is sent to Switzerland to persuade the renowned writer Patricia Highsmith to write one final installment of the Ripley anthology. The premise places Ehrenreich's character at the center of a literary mission involving one of crime fiction's most celebrated authors.
The AMA announcement was posted ahead of the session, with organizers noting that the thread was only a notice and that questions should be held for the actual event. That structure is common in the r/movies community, where actors and filmmakers often announce appearances in advance so fans can prepare.
For Ehrenreich, the session arrives at a busy point in a career that has repeatedly shifted register. After breaking out in «Hail, Caesar!», he took on the title role in «Solo: A Star Wars Story», then moved toward smaller and mid-budget dramas and thrillers, including «Fair Play» and a supporting part in «Oppenheimer». More recently he appeared in «Cocaine Bear» and «Weapons», releases that drew attention for their genre premises and ensemble casts.
The new film pairs him with Mirren, one of the most established names in British and American cinema, and Cooke, whose recent work has included high-profile film and television roles. Corbijn, a photographer and director, brings a visual style shaped by his background in still photography, and his previous features have often centered on solitary or morally ambiguous characters.
Highsmith, the author at the heart of the film's story, is best known for the Ripley novels and for «Strangers on a Train», works that have been adapted repeatedly for screens large and small. The film's premise imagines a final chapter in that literary series, with Ehrenreich's publisher's representative traveling to Switzerland to make the case to the writer.
The AMA is expected to draw questions about that role as well as his earlier work, from the Star Wars film to collaborations with major directors. Fans who want to participate will need to wait for the live thread rather than the announcement post, which organizers said was not the session itself.
The film's release and the online event together put Ehrenreich in front of two audiences at once: theatergoers encountering the new thriller and the online film community that follows casting, releases and behind-the-scenes details. The session is scheduled for Wednesday, with the actor due back at 4 p.m. ET to answer questions.
