Spanish-language broadcaster TelevisaUnivision said its third-quarter revenue was lifted by telecasts of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico and across Latin America, along with continued improvement at its ViX streaming platform. The tournament had a significant effect on the company's quarterly financials.

Subscription and licensing revenue rose 30% to $640 million in the quarter, driven largely by the World Cup broadcasts. The strong showing underscores how major live sporting events continue to anchor advertising and rights income for Spanish-language media companies that serve large audiences in Mexico and the United States.

The company's streaming business also contributed to the results. ViX, the company's streaming service, continued to improve during the period, reflecting the broader shift among media groups toward paid digital platforms alongside traditional television. Executives have pointed to the service as a key part of the company's long-term strategy.

On the company's third-quarter earnings call, Chief Executive Daniel Alegre was asked whether TelevisaUnivision would bid for U.S. rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Alegre said the management team was « very happy » with its existing portfolio of sports rights. He did not give a direct answer on a potential bid, instead steering the discussion toward the current lineup of properties.

The question reflects the intense competition for soccer rights in the United States, where the World Cup is expected to draw large audiences when it returns in 2030. Alegre's comments suggested the company was focused on maximizing value from rights it already holds while weighing future opportunities.
